Thousands Flee, Dozens Killed as Turkey Attacks Kurdish Militia in Syria

Turkey pounded Kurdish militia in northeast Syria for a second day on Thursday, Oct. 10. Tens of thousands of people fled, and dozens of people were killed. The Turkish offensive against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)—the main component of which is the Kurdish YPG militia—began days after President Donald Trump pulled U.S. troops out of the way. “We defeated 100% of the ISIS Caliphate and no longer have any troops in the area under attack by Turkey, in Syria. We did our job perfectly! Now Turkey is attacking the Kurds, who have been fighting each other for 200 years,” Trump said in a Twitter post on Thursday. “We have one of three choices: Send in thousands of troops and win Militarily, hit Turkey very hard Financially and with Sanctions, or mediate a deal between Turkey and the Kurds!” We defeated 100% of the ISIS Caliphate and no longer have any troops in the area under attack by Turkey, in Syria. White House Accidentally Sends Talking Points on Ex-Ukraine Ambassador Yovanovitch to House Democrats: Report

The White House has accidentally sent talking points related to former Ukraine Ambassador Marie Yovanovitchs deposition to House Democrats for the second time within a month. The memo is meant to provide guidance to Republicans for their responses to any potentially damaging information coming out of Yovanovitchs testimony on Friday. A copy of the document, obtained by numerous media outlets, is currently circulating online. Similarly, The Hill confirmed that the email was sent unintentionally, citing two anonymous sources with knowledge of the emails. “We are not concerned with any information Yovanovitch might share, because the president did nothing wrong. But we are concerned that [Adam] Schiff is putting her in a precarious position by having her testify in secret without State Department lawyers present,” one of the points in the memo states. “Only State Department lawyers would be able to provide Yovanovitch with the correct counsel on what is classified or privileged and wi..

ICE Chief Says Judicial Overreach Is Threatening Public Safety

WASHINGTON—Speaking from the White House press room podium, acting ICE Director Matt Albence lambasted a judges ruling that blocks Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from using database information to issue detainers. A detainer is a request to a local jail to hold an inmate for up to 48 hours longer in order for ICE to take custody. ICE issues detainers based on probable cause to believe that an individual is a removable alien, Albence said. “Probable cause is the same legal standard that other law enforcement agencies must meet in order to make an arrest,” he said on Oct. 10. California District Judge André Birotte Jr. issued the ruling on Sept. 27, on the premise that relying on database information alone can be unreliable and has sometimes led to the wrongful detention of American citizens. “The result is a potential misclassification of thousands and thousands of people, potentially even millions, given the various requirements for derivation of citizenship, their dynam..

House Democrats Warn Trump Administration Against Blocking Witnesses From Testifying in Impeachment Inquiry

House Democrats sent a warning to Trump administration officials on Oct. 11, cautioning them from preventing impeachment inquiry witnesses summoned by subpoenas from testifying to House committees. “Any efforts by Trump Administration officials to prevent witness cooperation with the Committees will be deemed obstruction of a co-equal branch of government and an adverse inference may be drawn against the President on the underlying allegations of corruption and coverup,” House Committee Chairmen Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), and Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) said in a statement to media outlets. This comes after former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch testified before Congress in a closed-door meeting. The three Democratic House chairmen said the House Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena to Yovanovitch last night to compel her deposition. They said their subpoena was in response to learning that the State Department had directed Yovanovitch to not appear b..

House Republican Denounces Democrats for Denying Access to Critical Evidence in Impeachment Inquiry

Republican Congressman Mike Conaway released a statement Wednesday condemning a Democrat-run impeachment inquiry as an act of “pure hatred” toward the President instead of a fair and legal process. The eight-term Congressman said the Democrats initiating this inquiry are not adhering to congressional norms and are withholding critical information from GOP members. “House Democrats, many of whom have been calling for the impeachment of this president since he was elected in 2016, have denied Republican colleagues access to critical evidence and other integral information. It is clear that their actions are motivated by pure hatred, which Speaker Pelosi herself once warned against, for this president.” Conaway, who is the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Agriculture, also serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. House Republicans who share Conaways opinion, have weighed in on the impeachment inquiry. Conways statement is..

Two associates linked to former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani were arrested Wednesday on campaign finance charges. The two have been linked to Giulianis efforts in Ukraine. Lev Parnas (L) and Igor Fruman are seen in mugshots (Alexandria Sheriffs office) Officials have alleged that the two men were part of a straw donor scheme to funnel money to political candidates. However, it doesnt appear the allegations are related to the Ukraine phone call or the former New York City mayors work in Ukraine. “Parnas and Fruman, who had no significant prior history of political donations, sought to advance their personal financial interests and the political interests of..

Trump Says He Will Cooperate With Impeachment Inquiry If the Rules Are Fair

President Donald Trump said this week he may be willing to cooperate with the impeachment inquiry, but only “if the rules are fair.” When asked on Oct. 9 at an event in the Roosevelt Room of the White House whether he would participate if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) were to hold a vote on the impeachment proceedings, Trump said he may cooperate under certain conditions. “We would if they give us our rights. It depends,” Trump answered. He continued by saying he most likely would not cooperate with the inquiry if he is told by Democrats that “you cant have lawyers, you cant ask questions, you cant have anybody present, all of these crazy things.” He eventually told reporters he would be willing to cooperate “if the rules are fair.” Trumps comments came after Pelosi released a statement late Tuesday in response to the White Houses previous assertion that it would not cooperate with the impeachment inquiry. “For a while, the president has tried to normalize lawlessness,” P..

Hundreds of people protested outside President Donald Trumps rally in Minneapolis Thursday, to a bonfire of MAGA memorabilia and chants of “Nazi scum!” Compiled footage from outside Target Center, the rally venue, shows police looking on as protesters chant, “Hey, hey!
