Democratic State Senator, Weary of Purist Politicians, to Become Independent

A state senator in Pennsylvania said hes leaving the Democratic Party to become an independent, asserting the partys so-called tent “is shrinking every day.” State Sen. John Yudichak made the announcement on Nov. 19. “As an Independent, I will continue to put people above politics. I will continue to support Democratic ideas as well as Republican ideas when it is clear that they serve the greater good and help government work for people rather than the narrow interests of partisan purists,” he said in a press release. Referencing the division during the Civil War, Yudichak said the country is, “again, in the throes of a fierce public debate where politics has become more about choosing sides than it is about working together toward a more perfect union.” The lawmaker said hes already been working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle: “Working outside the confines of an extremist political ideology is the foundation of my political career in Harrisburg, and it has helped me se..

Trump Suggests Pelosi Is Putting USMCA Trade Deal at Risk

President Donald Trump suggested on Twitter that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is putting a trade deal between the United States, Mexico, and Canada at risk. “Nancy Pelosi will go down as the least productive Speaker of the House in history,” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. “She is dominated by AOC Plus 3 and the Radical Left. Mexico and Canada, after waiting for 6 months to be approved, are ready to flee—and who can blame them? Too bad!” he wrote, referring to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Pelosi said in a statement Tuesday that Democrats in the House are waiting for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to have stronger worker protections. But Trump, in a cabinet meeting, said she is allowing the impeachment inquiry to consume the agenda of lawmakers in the House. Nancy Pelosi will go down as the least productive Speaker of the House in history. She is dominated by AOC Plus 3 and the Radical Left. Trump Wants to Testify in Impeachment Inquiry But Probably Wont: Bondi

President Donald Trump will probably not testify in the impeachment inquiry against him, newly-hired White House special advisor Pam Bondi said. Bondi, a former Florida attorney general, said that the president wants to testify. “I know why he wants to testify. Of course, he wants to testify because he did nothing wrong. But do I think its likely hes going to testify? Probably not. Because no one would advise him to testify because this is a sham court,” Bondi said in an interview with “CBS This Morning” on Nov. 20. “What theyre telling him, come in and prove your innocence, is that the system in which we live now? I believe things will be equal and fair if it goes to the Senate, when it goes to the Senate. But no, the president should not testify. I know exactly why he wants to, though, but no human being should have to come in and prove their innocence, ever.” Bondi said the open impeachment hearings have fallen flat. “What have we seen so far? Absolutely nothing. The witnesses ..

Watch: Ambassador Sondland Testifies in Impeachment Hearing

Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland will testify on Wednesday in front of the House impeachment inquiry after earlier witnesses contradicted his earlier deposition in closed-door meetings, which he later amended. “State Department was fully supportive of our engagement in Ukraine affairs, and was aware that a commitment to investigations was among the issues we were pursuing,” Sondland will testify, according to his opening remarks. He claimed that President Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and John Bolton knew about the campaign to pressure for investigations in Ukraine. Trump, Ukrainian officials, and other White House officials have denied any bribery or quid pro quo investigations. Sondland is a notable witness because he amended his closed-door testimony (pdf) to the House. In the revised testimony, Sondland said the White House clearly engaged in quid pro quo in Ukraine. In the revision, Sondland claimed he recalled a Sept. 1 meeting with Andriy Yermak, a t..

Sondland Testifies He Had Not Been Told Trump Linked Ukraine Aid to Biden Investigations

Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland confirmed that no one told him President Donald Trump tied foreign aid to the investigations he had requested of the Ukrainians. Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) asked about Sondlands answers regarding the $400 million in military aid to Ukraine during his testimony at Thursdays House Intelligence Committee hearing. Democrats allege that Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden in return for military aid. Trump, Ukranian officials, and other White House officials have categorically denied the claim. “After you testified, Chairman Schiff ran out and gave a press conference and said he gets to impeach the president of the United States because of your testimony,” Turner told Sondland. “If you pull up CNN today, right now their banner says, Sondland ties Trump to withholding aid. Is that your testimony today, Ambassador Sondland? That you have evidence that Donald Trum..

Associated Press Deletes Tweet About Trump and Impeachment, Issues Correction

The Associated Press deleted a tweet that pushed false information about President Donald Trump on Nov. 20, the second time in two days the wire agency has been forced to significantly amend its reporting on Trump. The agency, also known as the AP, wrote in a post on Twitter: “Contradicting the testimony of his own ambassador, President Trump says he wanted nothing from Ukraine and says the #ImpeechmentHearings should be brought to an end.” But Trump was quoting from what ambassador Gordon Sondland said during testimony to the House Intelligence Committee. “I finally called the president… I believe I just asked him an open-ended question, Mr. Chairman,” Sondland told Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.). “What do you want from Ukraine? I keep hearing all these different ideas and theories and this and that. What do you want?” U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland takes his seat to testify before a House Intelligence Committee hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry i..

Trumps Lawyer Rudy Giuliani Says He Never Met Gordon Sondland

President Donald Trumps lawyer Rudy Giuliani said on Nov. 20 that he “never met” Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union. Giuliani posted on Twitter after Sondland spoke to the House Intelligence Committee in an open impeachment hearing in Washington. “I came into this at Volkers request,” Giuliani said, referring to Kurt Volker, former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine. “Sondland is speculating based on VERY little contact. I never met him and had very few calls with him, mostly with Volker,” Giuliani, a former mayor of New York City, continued. “Volker testified I answered their questions and described them as my opinions, NOT demands. I.E., no quid pro quo!” I came into this at Volkers request. Sondland is speculating based on VERY little contact. I never met him and had very few calls with him, mostly with Volker. Sondland Claims Quid Pro Quo After Ukraine President and Foreign Minister Denied Claim

U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland claimed on Wednesday that President Donald Trump engaged in “quid pro quo” with Ukraine, despite top Ukrainian officials—in addition to Trump himself—denying the line of reasoning in recent weeks. But Sondland also said that the arrangement didnt involve military aid, which Democrats have accused Trump of withholding from Ukraine in order to get something in return. “I know that members of this committee have frequently framed these complicated issues in the form of a simple question: Was there a quid pro quo? As I testified previously, with regard to the requested White House call and White House meeting, the answer is yes,” Sondland said in his opening statement. Sondland said in a closed-door deposition last month that there was no “quid pro quo,” or a favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something, but later issued an update to his original statements. On Wednesday, Sondland told lawmakers he worked with Trump..

Letter Shows Trump Offered Zelensky a White House Visit With No Conditions, Campaign Says

President Donald Trumps reelection campaign tweeted a letter between the president and Ukrainian President Zelensky, saying that a visit was offered to the White House without any strings attached. House Democrats have alleged that Trump pressured Zelensky into investigating a political rival in exchange for military aid and a trip to the White House. However, the letter, dated May 29, suggests that there were no conditions attached to a White House visit. “I wish to offer my congratulations on your historic election victory,” Trump told Zelensky in the signed letter. “As you prepare to address the many challenges facing Ukraine, please know that the American people are with you and are committed to helping Ukraine,” Trump wrote in the letter. We already know Ukraine felt no pressure to act in any manner for lethal aid to flow. We also know that President Trump twice offered a White House visit – without conditions – in phone calls with President Zelensky. And this letter again ..

White House, Pence Dispute Gordon Sondlands Quid Pro Quo Claim

The White House on Wednesday disputed a claim from Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, saying there were no quid pro quo demands made to Ukraine by President Donald Trump or other White House officials. “Ambassador Sondland previously testified that the president told him directly that he was not interested in a quid pro quo,” the White House said in an emailed statement. “He testified that President Trump repeatedly made it clear he wanted no quid pro quo.” Sondland told House impeachment investigators Wednesday that he had concerns about a quid pro quo that tied a White House visit for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigations that Trump had wanted into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, as well as alleged 2016 election interference. “Everyone was in the loop,” Sondland said at the hearing. “It was no secret.” He added, “Was there a quid pro quo? The answer is yes.” Sondland said that he received no direct orders or much com..
