Jose Mourinho’s can’t hide his anger at Juan Mata for missing gilt-edged chance against Liverpool
The England international has been out of favour at the Theatre of Dreams but he rewarded Jose Mourinho’s faith in him two quick-fire goals against the Reds.
However, the Red Devils could have put the game to bed five minutes before half-time when Alexis Sanchez found Juan Mata in acres of space inside the Liverpool box.
The Spaniard cemented legendary status with supporters for his two goals at Anfield in 2014 – including one acrobatic finish.
And it looks like Mata wanted a repeat of those heroics when, instead of taking the ball down, he attempted the spectacular and saw his effort go narrowly wide.

Mourinho barely celebrated United’s first two goals but he couldn’t hide his anger at Mata after the miss and his facial expressions said it all on the sidelines.
Liverpool were favourites going into the match but United, without talisman Paul Pogba, were ahead when Romelu Lukaku knocked on David De Gea’s goal kick to put in Rashford.
The youngster cut inside and blasted a finish past Loris Karius and got his second when confusion in the box ended with the ball falling to Rashford and he converted from just inside the box.
