Romelu Lukaku has told Manchester City that they should be scared of Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of the striker’s return to action at Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic, 36, scored 28 goals in 46 appearances for United last season but a serious knee injury put the centre-forward’s Old Trafford career in serious doubt.

However, the Swede is hopeful of making his first-team return before the new year and is confident of featuring for the Red Devils in the side’s Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow on December 5.

Asked about Ibrahimovic’s imminent return, Lukaku told Sky Sports: ‘It motivates me really, because he’s another good player to add to the squad.

‘When you face a team like us it’s difficult for opponents. Ibrahimovic coming back will help us chase Manchester City.’

The Belgium striker hit back at recent criticism after failing to score in his last seven appearances for United.

‘I think when I signed everybody was asking questions and I think starting so well surprised a few people,’ Lukaku said.
