Warning: This article contains a flock of sheep, a video, and the chubbiest, most unlikely sheepdog ever.

Michael Jobson, 29, adopted Lady the Basset Hound three years ago.

And it wasn’t long before he discovered that the sheep on his Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire, farm have an inexplicable urge to follow her (probably because she’s really cute).

In a video captured by Mr Jobson, the oblivious three-year-old dog wanders around in a field on multiple occasions.

And you guessed it… behind her are dozens of sheep.

In fact, Lady has proved to have such an innate but unusual rapport with the sheep that Michael and his partner Fiona Morton, 37, are planning to use her talents to assist their full-time sheepdog Tom.

Part-time farmer and mechanical engineer Michael said: ‘Lady is completely unfazed by the sheep. She doesn’t even realise that they are following her round the field.

‘She is brilliant with them though. Although she seems more interested in sniffing around the field she does enjoy being out there with them.

‘On one particular day I was out with my mum in the field and had just let Lady mix with the sheep and they just started to follow her everywhere.

‘It certainly made me laugh. She was completely unaware but she was doing a brilliant job.

‘I love how close the flock get to her but she still doesn’t turn around. They all just move in a wave then follow her.

‘Sometimes she will just turn around to look at them and then carry on sniffing around. It’s great that they don’t bother her as I’m really trying to work on her confidence.

‘We adopted Lady as a rescue about three years ago. She was really fear aggressive so we can’t take her for a walk in the park in case she does bite someone.

‘I bring her out with me while I’m maintaining the farm to try and build her confidence and by being round the other animals she has improved a lot.

‘Lady is normally behind me following me around but sometimes she does go off on her own and then somehow, she becomes the leader for the sheep.

‘I don’t think I’ll be using her as our full-time sheep dog as we do have a collie for that but I think she’ll be able to help us out a bit.’
