Fears child abducted from park in Manchester

Police are responding to reports of a possible abduction of a girl at a park in Manchester

Greater Manchester Police Superintendent Arif Nawaz said officers were taking the reports "extremely seriously" after being called to the area shortly after 9pm on Sunday.

"We need to be really clear about what has happened this evening so I'd ask that people refrain from speculating around the circumstances on social media as we follow our processes," Supt Nawaz added.

According to reports, the girl is thought to be around six or seven years old.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 2512 of 05/11/17 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
