Blues assign Barbashev, Blais to AHL

ST. LOUIS — After a 3-2 overtime loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night, the St. Louis Blues made a pair of roster moves on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues assigned forward Ivan Barbashev to the AHL Chicago Wolves and forward Sammy Blais to the AHL San Antonio Rampage. The Blues don’t return to action until Wednesday, when they host the Calgary Flames, so no corresponding moves were immediately announced.

The 21-year-old Barbashev has dressed in six games for the Blues this season. In 2016-17, the 6-foot, 187-pound forward appeared in 30 regular season games for the Blues, posting 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and two penalty minutes. Barbashev also played in 46 regular season games for the Wolves, logging 37 points (19 goals, 18 assists) and 14 penalty minutes. The Moscow, Russia, native was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

The 21-year-old Blais was recalled from the Rampage on Oct. 13 and has since dressed in four NHL games, recording one assist and two penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward appeared in two games with the Rampage prior to his recall, tallying four points (three goals, one assist) and two penalty minutes. In 2016-17, Blais played in 75 regular season games for the Wolves, posting 43 points (26 goals, 17 assists) and 58 penalty minutes. The Montmagny, Quebec, native was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
